What are good cheap winter gifts to make for a large amount of people?

September 25, 2009 - 1:20 pm 3 Comments

My organization hosts an annual Christmas party, and as a holiday gift, we give them a small token of appreciation. We have volunteers come in to make 100-200 of these small gifts, but we have little budget. Last year we made cocoa cones with hot cocoa powder, marshmallows, and crushed candy canes. The year before that we made a small ornament or decoration snowflake out of wires and beads. Do you have any ideas for small cheap homemade gifts for this year?

Hey, that sounds like fun! Can I help? lol
One year I made shortbread cut into xmas shapes and rumballs and wrapped them up pretty and another year I made little ornaments out of Polymer Clay. Polymer Clay is fairly cheap but sold in blocks of colour or you could use white and paint them. There are heaps of tutorials on the net. But that may be a little involved. Maybe Glass ornaments decorated with glass paint, glue and glitter?

I think the cookie idea is great too.
You could find your favourite christmas recipe and use only the dry ingredients, place them in a glass jar (they look nice if you use a funnel and layer the different ingredients) print a label of the recipe and place it on the jar and decorate the lid. You could also add one cookie cutter per jar. They will have to add the wet ingredients, ie milk, egg etc… that way the food will not go off. It’s cheap, you don’t have to bake and worry about mess and ovens etc and they can make it themselves!

The only problem is the glass jars…maybe you could collect them throughout the year.

Maybe a small plant.. you could buy them ready made or buy the pot plants, add the soil and plant a seed. Then add care instructions. You could also do a mystery seed with care instructions but they won’t know what it is until it grows.

If all else fails there is a great site that has heaps of handmade xmas ideas:

Hope this helps and have a great party and holiday :)

Do you have a webkinz kinz style code?

September 25, 2009 - 1:20 pm 2 Comments

I know what a lot of the answers I am going to get are going to be… I need a code because I live in the middle east and I can’t buy webkinz clothing. I really want one for my little cousin who is in the hospital at this moment no lie. She had always wanted one and I want to make her wish come true since I have tried so hard to find her one on the web but nobody ships to the middle east. Please if you could email me the code to jessygirl82011@hotmail.com you would make my 5 year old cousin very happy. Thanks and please no mean comments because I already cry for my cousin everyday and I don’t need people being mean on the web for no reason. Thanks for your support.

I am so sad to hear about your cousin, I don’t have a kinz style code, but if you really want to get the code for her then I know some sites that you could win the code on. But you will have to comment. So that is pretty fair I guess. Here are some blogs you can try out.

www.webkinznotes.wordpress.com *gives a lot of codes and stuff*
www.kinzlover88.wordpress.com *gives away a lot of codes and stuff*

does anyone have a webkins?

Does anyone have a unused Webkins code?

This little girl came up and asked me in the library if i had a webkins code… I didn’t even know what a webkins was, untill she showed me the website… and she seemed really disapointed when I didn’t have one… and after reading about the sign up thing I told her you had to buy the toy.. and she was telling me that she knows that and she tried asking her mom, and her mom said they didn’t have any money to be spending on any kind of toys right now… i just feel really bad.. I see her a lot in the library and I figured i should try to get a code for her.

so does anyone have a unused code I could give her?

If you really feel that bad for her, you wouldn’t mind going to your nearest Hallmark (or any other store that sells them) and paying a little bit of money for one.

i want to make a plush animal, but i have no sewing skills, though i have my great grandmother to do that. my goal is to make a plush pet, using fabric, plush eyes, and things like that. can someone give me every site i would need, and how to make a layout for the design of the pet, and what else i need? i would love it if i can make one, because a lot of people are making them now.
i want to make a webkinz plush, out of the webkinzestore.com ’s online only pet. how do i make a pattern

here’s a website

http://www.wikihow.com/Make-a-Stuffed-Animal

How can I make great homemade gifts without spending money?

September 23, 2009 - 10:37 am 4 Comments

I am broke and want to make amazing gifts without making any money. What are some arts and crafts I can do?Any suggestions?

You’re going to have to spend a "little" money for anything, but get some mason jars and get a good cookie recipe and layer the ingredients in the jar, add a decorative tag with the directions, add a decorative top and some ribbon, and voila. I saw the recipe on-line, search under "homemade gifts". Everyone Loves these.
