How does santa wrap toys and gifts in your house and does Santa only bring one gift or all of them?

October 25, 2009 - 5:41 pm 4 Comments

Okay, so how does santa wrap the toys at your place? Does he remove the packaging and put the toy in a non discript box? Does he just wrap the box it came in? Does he bother to wrap them at all?
Does he bring just one gift or is he responsible for all the gifts under the tree?

When my boys were small, I always told them that I had lunch with Santa at McDonalds so he could give me the money to buy the presents for that year. They believed it so much that they started asking the workers at McDonalds where Santa was ALL year long.

Is it tacky to register for gifts if we have a destination wedding followed by a bigger reception at home?

October 23, 2009 - 4:53 pm 7 Comments

My fiance and I want to have a small destination wedding including our closest friends and family (18 or so people including children). Once we return home from the honeymoon, which should last no longer than a week, have a reception. I want to invite everyone we know and love to the reception. Is it tacky or weird to register for gifts since we are still having a reception at home???
Thanks for the opinions!

You can only have A RECEPTION on the day you are married, your wedding day. You cannot have A RECEPTION one day or one week or one month after wards. You can have A PARTY or you can have A CELEBRATION but you cannot have A RECEPTION. The invitation can be worded " A Party in Honor of Mary and John’s Marriage on October 10, 2009."

It is not tacky or weird to register for wedding gifts as long as your party or celebration is scheduled within thirty days of your wedding day.

Are gifts for a secretary considered to be legitimate reimbursable expenses?

October 19, 2009 - 10:37 pm 7 Comments

I have a reimbursable account at my job. Are personal gifts considered to be reimbursable or would that be my expense?

I think you are asking the wrong people. It doesn’t matter what we think. The re-imbursable expense account was set up by your employer and they are the ones you should be asking. Since most companys have a very detailed list of allowed re-imbursible expenses in their employee handbook, I would look there first so you don’t look foolish asking a question they would think you already should know the answer to.

You are not asking about whether something is deductible by the IRS. You are asking if it is a ligitimate business expense that your employer will allow you to be re-imbursed for. In some ways it can be. For example: Christmas gifts purchased for employees under you on behalf of the "company" NOT on behalf of you. Is work going to allow you to get sweet on your secretary and pay for your dating expenses???? LOL probably not a good move.

Remember people higher up the feed chain in your company are watching what you are doing. If you feel comfortable sending in those items on your reimbursables with prior approval (I hope in writing) then go for it. Your common business sense or lack of discretion will only affect you and your ability to continue to work for them…. but the secretary gets to keep the gifts. : ) Only your neck is hanging on the chopping block.

How much is a good amount to spend on attendants gifts?

October 19, 2009 - 10:37 pm 6 Comments

How much should we spend on our wedding party’s gifts? Also what are some good ideas for gifts? For the bridesmaids and the groomsmen(who are all marines), as well as the pastor, the server, and the soundman.

I’m planning on $50 per person in the bridal party, more for the parents and nothing for servers or soundmen (they are getting paid)!
Jewellery,
restaurant vouchers
Movie vouchers
compact mirrors or hip flasks
pocket watch
spa products
flowers

What gifts should I give our parents at out wedding?

October 17, 2009 - 8:21 pm 2 Comments

My husband and I are wanting to give our parents gifts on our wedding day, but we can’t think of anything to give them. Any ideas?

Moms love handwritten thank you letters expressing how you (or your fiance, they can go to both!) feel about them and their children. They alsolike monogrammed hankies for their tears of joy ( =

Dads are a bit harder. If tyhey have a favorite liquor, perhaps a personal bottle for the reception, a great year or older vintage. A special drinking glass (beer stein or wine glass depending on their fav) for the receptio is nice too, they can carry it around and show everyone haha! (engraved with "Thanks Dad!" or "Love You Dad" etc).

Good luck!

Who picks gifts for the Obama administration to give to foreign leaders?

What a complete national humiliation some of these rinky-dink gifts have been! I’ve seen more thoughtful gifts from someone who ran into a 7-11 on the way to the birthday party.

Dohbama strikes again. And just in time because, after all, nothing says “special relationship” like a gadget you can buy in every mall in the western world. What’d he get Prince Philip? An Xbox?

The inevitable punchline — almost as inevitable as the fact that Gordon Brown’s DVDs were the wrong format: She already owns one. Where art thou, Teleprompter of the US?

Turns out there was more loaded on there than just 2007 mementos. The somewhat horrifying detail that they added some music for her too, leaving us to wonder what America’s diplomatic brain trust considers appropriate for a royal mix tape. We know what a big fan The One is of that “Yes, We Can” track…
This is just more evidence of St. Barry being, in Hitchens’s words, a “megalomaniac narcissist” infatuated with his own vacuous rhetoric. o_
I agree with you. Brown and Obama do not understand throwing good money after bad is sillyness. When Vladimir Putin warns the U.S. about the dangers of socialism, we are truly screwed. o_O

What gifts can I bring from Texas to Canada?

October 15, 2009 - 5:41 pm 6 Comments

What are good gifts to bring to friends in Canada from Texas? I want something made in Texas that I can bring into Canada. Any suggestions? I’ve already thought about local Honey, and a few Texas beers. Can I bring meat and produce into Canada from the States?

How about a basket with bottles of local BBQ sauce and chunky salsa & some chips.?

this link has a list of what you can and cannot bring into canada.

If you can bring food (maybe ship fedex to arrive the same time you do) take some BBQ brisket and/or Boudain
