my sister and i have acumulated a large ammount of stuffed animals over the years and some we just dont need. so we were wondering if we can donate them somewhere. maybe to a place that gives them to young hospital patients.
Check out Stuffed Animals For Emergencies and you can contact someone near you who collects donations.

Donating to children in hospitals is a great idea. Also consider this. Many women and children are forced into shelters everyday as a result of domestic violence. The children are of course very traumatized by these events. I think it would be great if you could donate a portion of the animals to a domestic abuse shelter as this would at least give these scared, traumatized children a small senxe of ease in their new and scary situation.

That’s a great idea. Or you could try your local Red Cross or Fire Department or Police Department. Some of them carry teddy bears or other stuffed animals to give to kids that are exposed to trauma or domestic violence situations. Your on the right track. Might just need to make some calls and see who will take them. Kudos to your and your sister.

Hi….Im not sure they would apeal to everyone & hospitals may not accept them because of H & S issues………..how about selling them - maybe eBay & giving the proceeds to charity…..just a thought !!

What a wonderful thing to do! Where I live there are several places who will take them. I gave mine to Victim Services at the police station and a battered women’s shelter I knew about.

Please, go to your nearest hospital, hospice for children or the Ronald MacDonald house in your area for the terminally ill and drop them off. You can also go to the Salvation Army in your area and get a tax-write off receipt for the gift.

You’ve gotten some great ideas - here’s one quick idea I had: contact the local foster care agency. Kids that get put in foster care are often traumatized by getting displaced, however screwed up their family home was. Many foster care agencies put together care packages for new foster kids - a stuffed animal would be a great addition to this.-
