What is a Webkin and why do my kids love them so?

Hello.
Webkinz are stuffed animals that were originally released by the Ganz gift company in 2005. The toys are similar to many other small plush toys, however they come with a special code on their labels that allows access to the "Webkinz World" which is a website to "adopt" a virtual version of the pet for virtual interaction. There are also smaller versions of the toys called "Lil’ Kinz".
Reason kids adore webkinz is the cute and soft plushie toys , and abilities to physically play with your webkin and play with it online. Its great for ages 4 - 8

I have a seven-year-old and she absolutely loves Webkinz. They are similar to Beanie Babies, but they come with this secret code so that you can go one Webkinz.com and raise their virual webkinz. When they sign up for it, they can play all sorts of games to earn Kinzcash (there money currency). Then they can use the Kinzcash to buy things for their virtual pet such as food, clothing, and even rooms for their house. They can even hang out in the online clubhouse, but don’t worry, all of the sayings are preloaded so the child picks out which comment they want to say. It is 100% safe.
I like it for my daughter because I feel it can teach responsibilty. There are even quizes on there for all subjects, and online books they can buy. It is really neat and I wish I had one when I grew up.
